I'm IN!
The Art on the Greene's judges accepted my work into their March 21-23, 2014 event in Arlington!
It's my 3rd year to attend and I'm thrilled to be chosen.

"Dixie is a three year old miniature dachshund rescued from Operation Kindness.  She is as charmingly bossy as she is cute, and she loves snuggling on the couch and being near her family."

"Aggie is a five year old Australian cattle dog mix rescued from the SPCA.  She has endless enthusiasm for everything she does from taking walks to watching TV to greeting guests.  She loves hanging out with her doggie friends in her neighborhood and spending time with her family."

I love chatting about that sort of thing!

Behind the scenes: Karen, referred by Xaviers pet parents, (Thanks Ken & Olivia!)
ordered a "1 for you, 1 for me" set of furry faces.

Of her gift to her sister (& herself) she wrote:
"They are so beautiful! I think you captured them perfectly...I'm excited this is something that I can keep forever to remember how cute and special she is."

SmileThat's exactly why I choose to provide commissions!
To preserve memories, honor relationships.
Wooly 8x10 Commissioned Watercolor Portrait. ©Shelly Burden

"Wooly's 16 years old and a rescue dog. After graduating from college, my daughter Shannon rescued and adopted him, took him to the vet for his shots, and tightly bonded with and cared for him for several years. She married, and when she & her husband moved to Australia for business they took Wooly with them, where he met kangaroos and koalas. Wooly became a "big brother" to Shannon's baby girl Ellie, who grew up to love Wooly dearly. He's also now a "big brother" to Ellie's baby sister Reagan.

Everyone who meets Wooly falls in love with him; he's very sweet, smart & loving, has a big fan club. He LOVES treats from Nana Patty, who's known as the Treat Lady, and loves to walk down to Duck Creek in the neighborhood with Papa Steve, his walking buddy.  Wooly also loves to "fake bury" milkbones in his bed and to chase the squirrels in the backyard." Dottie 5x7 Memorial portrait. ©Shelly Burden 2014

Dottie: "A rescue puppy that my son adopted at six weeks from a shelter. She was a determined  and assertive little dog that loved to go to Palo Duro Canyon near their home.

Dottie died in September from lymphoma. My son and daughter in law had been taking her to a veterinary oncologist for chemo treatments for almost two years. Their generosity gave her an additional two years of quality life.  She will be missed and I know they will treasure your portrait."
